Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don’t believe in God and they can proof he doesn’t exist, and some other guys who do believe in God and they can proof he does exist. And the argument stopped being about God a long time ago. And now it’s about who is smarter. And honestly – I don’t care. I don’t believe I will ever walk away from God for intellectual reasons. Who knows anything anyway? If I walk away from him, and please pray that I never do, I will walk away for social reasons, identity reasons, deep emotional reasons, the same reasons that any of us do anything.”

    Übersetzungsversuch:

    Mein jüngster Glaubenskampf ist kein intellektueller. Ich mache das nicht mehr. Früher oder später stellst du fest, dass es manche Kerle gibt, die nicht an Gott glauben und die beweisen können, dass er nicht existiert, und dass es manche andere Kerle gibt, die an Gott glauben und die beweisen können, dass er existiert. Und die Diskussion hat vor langer Zeit aufgehört sich um Gott zu drehen. Jetzt geht es darum, wer schlauer ist. Und ganz ehrlich – das interessiert mich nicht. Ich glaube nicht, dass ich jemals wegen intellektuellen Gründen von Gott weglaufen werde. Wer weiss denn ohnehin was Sache ist? Wenn ich von ihm weglaufe, und bitte betet, dass ich das niemals tun werde, dann werde ich aus sozialen Gründen weglaufen, aus Identitätsgründen, aus tief emotionalen Gründen, denselben Gründen aus welchen jeder von uns tut was er tut.

    Finde ich herausfordernd.
